It's one of my first things i'd like to do on my new white 2010 insight.
Can anybody give me some insight on the installation specifically the wiring... what lights did you use/buy... how hard it was to do.. and of course pictures would be amazing.
Welcome aboard. Some of our members from over seas have installed other led lamps on the front of their cars. I want to get those side emitting led strips to tuck under hte bumper and lamp housing to give an Audi look to my car. I would wire them to something that is live with the key under hte hood or dash.

yes that's what i had in mind too. The audi look is the best way to describe it.
My ideal solution would be to tap into the existing lights system. So when the car turns on i have that little bright led strip on already automatically.
interestingly enough you can see later in that video... the audi headlights are configured very similar with HID projector low beam set up and a regular high beam.
Has anyone found any aftermarket LED daytime running lights (DRL) (ala Audi) that are both high quality (don't fail prematurely) and very bright? I need to add DRL's to my G1 Insight which is now in Sweden where DRL's are mandatory. I now must remember to turn on my headlights whenever I drive which draws more power than I prefer and doing so is subject to my forgetting. So I would like to install some high-quality, bright LED DRL's, but I haven't found anything that is as good as the OEM Audi, Mercedes, etc. LED DRL's. I've considered visiting an Audi or Mercedes parts department, but I know that I don't have enough money in my wallet to buy what they have
aisbell, most auto stores like advance, auto zone, pepboys, etc has a set of led lamps described as fog or driving lights. I think thye may fit your needs and just wire them up to the accessory fuse.
cheesie, the 12 volt battery is always on, it doesnt know when your key is off. You would need to tap something that is on withthe key like the accessory fuse or anything regarding the fuel system, etc.

I actually did this over the weekend. I wish I had taken pictures of the install, but it's pretty straight forward once you get the bumper off. I wired mine into the bulbs that are in the same compartment as the drls.
