Default Hella horn install

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has installed a hella 12v 118dB horn for their insight. I was a little confused by the diagram sent with the horn. It has a setup for horn push positively connected and horn push negatively connected. Which one is correct/better?

Thanks in advanced

I have not installed one.

When you push your horn button, you will have a POSITIVE potential to the horn. The voltage potential will seek a ground through the base and body frame as it exits.

So without ever seeing your device, I would think you have a horn push positively connected.

The horn switch provides a ground for the horn relay. The relay applies power to the horn, the other side of the horn is grounded. Can you just plug in the horn to the existing connector? Since it is powered by a relay, you shouldn't have any problem. Can you post the instructions?

I installed the dual note SuperTone and they're great. For the maximum effect use the relay and run a wire to the battery. I just used stock wiring on my HCH initially and the I2 was waaay louder with the relay wired in.

I was able to install w/o removing the bumper as the horn is right below the hood latch and under the plastic panel, but it's very difficult unless your hands are small.
