Default Tapping into assesory power...

I just added an amp and sub to my 2010 EX, and mounted a sub volume control knob into the small compartment next to the cigarette outlet. I did anticipate how shadowy this area is, so I got a shallow surface mount led to light the knob.

Problem is, I want to tap into my assesory power so the led turns on with my other dash lights. I haven't messed with tapping lines since my old 88 VW fox, this Insights a little more complex. Any recommendations on how to handle this?

I tapped the accessory fuse myself, so its on and off with the key. If you get the fog lamp kit they include a pass through that uses the econ button, that maybe a good place to tap the dash light control if not use the orange wire on the radio harness.

Brilliant! Why didn't I think of the illumination wire? It's been unused and taped up since I swapped out my head unit, wired it up really fast and it looks great. Thanks for the tip Cobb.

Weird thing is, when I turn down my panel brighness, the led gets brighter, and when I turn it up it gets dimmer. Also it turns off completely when I turn the panel brightness all the way up, I'm guessing it's because this light wasn't meant to dim. Not a big deal, I can work around this lol.

Also, in my search for solutions to wiring this led in, I found this...

Bussmann BP/HHH ATM Add-A-Fuse:Amazon:Automotive Bussmann BP/HHH ATM Add-A-Fuse:Amazon:Automotive

... Never heard of these, but ease of use and positive reviews led me to pick up a few to see if I can find a good use for then down the road.

The Web address you entered is not a functioning page on our site

I can not see it, but am assuming its the add a circuit. This is a gizmo that plugs into the standard fuse socket and you install 2 fuses into it. It has a lead to power the additional gizmo you want to add.

Cobb: Go to Amazon, type in Bussmann BP HHH and hit Enter and you should see what Stone is talking about.

I had to do that, too.

Sorry Cobb , the link was from amazon on my phone, should have know it won't work. But you're right, it's the fuse box tap that adds a lead for new shiny gizmos... Now if I can just find an excuse to use one...
