Default Insight II + Dynamat = Awesome!

I've installed 2 Dynamat door kits on my Insight II. 4 doors installation took me around 9 hours from start to finish.

1. There's only one screw to hold the door panel
2. Honda used a garbage bag type of plastic to cover the "holes" on the metal panel.
3. The "glue" that holds the plastic is very very "ugly" thing to work with.
4. Dynamat dose make a different. 50% more quite.
5. I also change the stock speakers. The improvement is minimum due to lack of bass. (adding a sub is a huge work)
6. Well, now noise only comes from the firewall (engine noise), the wheels, the truck.

After all the works have been done, I still left with 30% of extra Dynamat. I am thinking to put them either on the interior of the firewall or on the floor or on the truck. But fire wall seems hard to get to. Does anyone has experience of putting Dynamat on the firewall?

I have the same 'extra' to use somewhere. I was thinking about putting it in the rear wheel wells. That seem to be where I get the most exterior road noise now. Just doing the doors makes the car sound so much more substantial. Tapping on or closing the doors sound way more solid.

That black caulking/sealant was the worst stuff I've seen in a long time. Ranks right up there with a dirty diaper without the smell.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a diaper that doesn't have a smell.

LOL True, when there is more 'form' than 'substance' This stuff smears and is real stringy. I got a little on the window's 'fuzzy trim' at the base of the window. I didn't know it until I lowered the window and when I put it back up it had streaky stuff on it. It does come off, but I've never seen anything like this used before.

I got them from Amazon. Better price than Crutchfield.

To JimJohn: Do you mean putting it underneath the rear seats or putting it in the trunk? The idea sounds great. I don't wanna waste the Dynamat neither.

I had the rear seat out when I did my 'audio upgrade'. I didn't notice tire noise coming from there as much as behind the side panels of the cargo area. They are about the only interior I haven't had apart yet. Once it warms up I want to pull them off and see what it sounds like. It would only really quite the ride when the audio is off. At 'normal' music levels I don't hear/notice any road noise. Doing the doors probably make the most difference because it's stiffening up a speaker enclosure.

I'd have to say if someone was going to upgrade their speakers dynamat-ing (or equivalent) the doors would be worth doing.
