Default Possbile CAI for the I2?

These 2 pages look promising. I havent been to a dealer, but I want to say the intake from the outside to the intake manifold is almost identical between the i2 and crz.

Hey Cobb, pretend for a moment, because it's true, that I don't know jack sh*t about air intakes... What kind of benefits would we see if these can be installed on the I2?

I think it would sound more "queefy". Performance wise, about as much as nitrogen in your tires.

From what I can tell our cars like/need cold air for the compression ratio and dsi system. I see when this was installed on a crz it got 2.8 hp and 3.4 tq improvement. The intake area from grill to intake manifold looks very similar, so I am betting this maybe a nice fit.

Typically warm air instakes give more mpg and cold air intakes give more hp and tq. Ive remove the snorkle and it went down in summer or winter.

It would be awesome if it would fit. The only question is, is who wants to pay to test it out? lol

I thought cheesie won the lottery and was looking for one? Id hope he was going to test them for us.

I want the one that hangs down low in the engine compartment vs next to the battery. Now on the market yet. The other one is 500 bucks, a bit more than I am willing to spend for a pipe and sponge bob filter on the end.

I spoke to a mechanic friend of mines for 40 years experience in autos. He said all Hondas come with a cold air intake and it was a waste of money.

The hondas may be drawing air from a cooler part of the engine bay but there are still gains to be made. A true CAI will place the filter much lower in the engine bay, while using much less constricting piping and filter. I have had them on two of my past civic si's. The power gain isn't noticable, and yes they do sound louder, but the main reason I have had them and will probably scoop up one if it ever becomes available for the insight is the MPG gain. On both civics I saw a 2-3 MPG gain.
Now I always drive with gas in mind, but they basically reduce the amount of sucking the engine needs to do to get fresh air into the cylinders. This reduces the amount of downward energy the pistons need to use on pulling in air and as a result more power to the wheels, or the same amount of power more efficiently.

I may give the one that hangs down low in the engine compartment a try, if I can find it on sale. The one for the crz may fit, but it looks too high and subject to heat from the radiator.

Ive notice more umph from cais, but cant report any more mpg.

Cobb, if you end up trying these, let us know. I will be on board as long as there is not too much modification needed.
