Default Ignition key light anyone?

Has anyone ever installed an aftermarket ignition key light into their I2?

I always end up stabbing blindly in the dark when I get in the car in the pitch dark, and noticed lately the area near the ignition keyhole is getting scruffed up.

Wondering if there's an easy aftermarket solution? (another wild idea i had was to glue on glow-in-the-dark stickers around the keyhole!)

Here's what I do. It's hard to describe but I'll try. It should be obvious if you try it a couple of times.

I hold the key in my right hand so that the top part (with the buttons) is in my palm and the blade is held by my thumb and index and middle fingers and doesn't quite extend to the ends of the fingers.

Then I feel for the keyhole with those fingers and, when I find it, place those fingers around it and guide the key in without it ever touching anything other than the hole.

I can do this during the day so I don't have to bend down to look and of course I can do it when it's dark.

that's certainly one way of doing it

it does make sense... i do that sometimes, but i'm still hoping there's a better (brighter) solution to this...

Turn on one of the map lights.

Edited to add: Come to think of it, I'm not sure if you can turn on the light without the key in the ignition.

Okay, then turn on one or both map lights before you put the key in.

does the G2 have a dome light that comes on when the door is opened? I guess it is mounted in the center of the roof instead of at the front portion like the G1 Insight.

I just use the force. Even if its illiuminated, I would still need to bend and twist my head to see where to stick it.

If you want to make it fancy, maybe you can add an LED spot light like what the prius 3 uses to light up the joystick, power it by the map light andjust leave it on 24/7.

This company sells a lot of prewired leds. For example Waterproof LED Spotlight - Car & Home - Ultra Intensity! this could be on 24/7 as it wouldnt draw enough to effect the battery. Ive thought about this when my under dash lamps go out. I would tie them into the map light above.
