Has anyone swapped his original plastic footrest with an aftermarket metal (aluminium? ) one?
My plastic footrest shown signs of "getting older" already after 1,8 years...
There are plenty on the market but i doubt they will match the behind the footrest OEM clips...
Anyone?
there's plenty aftermarket ones available here. Mostly made of cheapo light aluminum. am sure there's plenty online too. i'd love to see some shots of folks who've changed theirs though.

For awhile, way back when, a fellow Insight Central member was making brushed Stainless steel footrest for the 1st gen insight. They weighed almost as much as the 1st gen Insight, but they were really a quality piece of work. The 1st gen Insight has just 2 push in clips to hold the footrest in place and were included with the SS footrest. The SS footrest even had the Insight logo cutout on it. I placed some heavy red and black felt behind it to mimick the Insight logo.
I think he is referring to the area where the clutch petal would be where you can place your foot. it for the US model that has like a tread pattern on it and is made out of plastic.

I dont use it myself. I normally have my left foot flat on the floor and right foot on the gas or brake or hovering right above it. I have my left wrist/forearm resting on my knee and steering, right elbow on center arm rest.
