Default Questions for folks who block their grill.

What sections of the upper and or lower grill do you block? Do you block any portion in the summertime? Has blocking your grill made a measurable impact on mpg?

On the top half of the grill, I left the lower right section open. On the lower half of the grill, I left the lower left third of the area open. I wanted the side with the CVT to have airflow, and with a little bit of the upper right open, I felt it kinda balanced out the cooling of the radiator.

I removed it all when the lows in the morning were over 50.

I monitored the water temp with scangauge and the car warmed up quicker and never overheated. I consistently got over 50mpg per tank with or without the block.

So no fuel savings then?

I didn't have enough data to establish a firm decision on fuel savings. I wouldn't be surprised if I got an extra mile or two per gallon in the winter.

I think coming up temp quicker is good for the engine and good for me using the heater.

I would not recommend it without a scangauge to monitor water temp. With so little left open, if you caught a plastic bag on the road that blocked the open area, you'd want to know about it before the idiot light comes on.

You can safely block the lower grill half way with no problems. The top grill I leave untouched.

In the winter I completely block the lower grill. I find the i2 likes to be 180 degrees or below. Anything over that hurts vs help fuel economy. It wont pull the higher timing that it does at lower temps. I also use water wetter too.
