so it was matter of luck
after almost 2 years the pigs finally pulled me over for the 35% front tinted windows ( in cali)
its a fixable ticket but it sucks how bad my car will look now without the front tint!!
i really wish california would let us tint our front windows like arizona....
or maybe if i tint them again i should keep an eye out so when i see a cop ill just roll down the windows fast so they wont notice..
i dont have a plan b thou
i really wish california would let us tint our front windows like arizona....
Here in AZ the law is 33% front windows so you would have been ok. To be honest I've had 20% on my Focus front windows for 10 years, the cops just don't seem to care to much here in AZ. I've even seen cop cars here with nearly blacked out front windows. I figure if I get pulled over I'll just make sure my front windows are rolled down on the Focus. Tint on my Insight is legal so no worries there.
Sorry to hear you have to pull the tint off and get different rated tint.
so after 2 hrs i finally took off the front tint on my car
honestly i just hate the look of it with no tint!!!
stupid cops!
besides the bad look, the less privacy, the headlight of the cars behind me(at night) blind me!
i already took the car to the PD and fixed my ticket
now ill tint the windows again with the lightest tint, i thnk its 35%, idk
but if i just dont get used to it ill go back to med(20%)
and either keep my windows rolled down most of the time or keep an eye on the cops and roll down the windows when i see one
You were breaking the law, got caught and now you are being disrespectful towards the police by calling them stupid and pigs. And some fellow IC members feel sorry for you? Come on now!
The police are expected to enforce OUR laws. Laws which they didn't enact, they are just supposed to enforce them. Whether you (or the police officer) agrees with the law or not.
Besides, what do you do in your car that requires "privacy" of tinted windows? (Please don't answer that!) But, I think the best argument for legal window tinting would be for the purpose of keeping cars cooler, saving energy etc.
You can affect change in our democratic system by voting. Recommend you correspond with your elected officials and make a change. In the meantime: follow the rules - or pay the price.

5% in the rear, 25% passenger windows. In florida(where im from) 25% is legal. Everyone here has 5%... The only time you get ticketed here for illegal tint(from what I seen) is due to other violations. We have no inspections of any kind. The sky is the limit..its all up to the police to decide whats street worthy. Im sorry to hear that happened to you.
In the first place, you should have bought the legal tint percentage for your car instead of installing illegal percentage. Or just leave your car without any tints which I've been having no tints on my car(s) to avoid issue unless it's OEM tint.

idk why but i just wanted to share my experience and im kind of young and not mature yet i guess
but when anybody gets ticketed they get mad, or sad, etc
in my case i got mad and thats why i call them what i call them
im not goning to argue with anybody here
just come here to talk bout our cars and experiences, i just want to hear other peoples thoughts
california doesnt let us tint our front windows a all, not even the lightest tint but cops still let it pass sometimes, unless "they cant see the driver", or they got nothing else to do
i just dont like having no tint; the car gets hotter, the sun messes up the inside with time, people see me picking my nose(privacy example )
since i go tthe ticket fixed ill go ahead and get the lighest tint hopefully that will at least make my car look as good as it used to look
I've had a dark tinted out 1995 benz S320 long wheelbase sedan for over 5 years that gave me no trouble with cops cause it was bassically a luxury limo car. except 1 time in a small town area where the cops had nothing to do i got a ticket once. A lot of it depends with the kind of car, if it's a mustang or something more likely a speeder.
Wear the Hybrid Badge on the back proudly it'll save you tickets.
Next plan to black out the silver bumper portion and white out the honda logo. And find or make a set of Black rims with a white lip.
No problem Cheesie, I understand your frustration. I just see no use in directing it at the cop who is just doing his job. That guy is just making a living, and he gets paid for and is expected to write citations for those of us who ignore the law.
I think the CA law should be changed to reflect what the other southern (sunny) states allow.
We bought a used Camry Hybrid last year which had a DARK tint. It looked awesome with the titanium exterior, but when the dealer had it inspected, they found the tint too dark and had to remove it. (Aparently car was previously from Florida.) I was mad, but oh well.
Some states allow you to tint windows for photophobic drivers. I think a physician's note is required. Kind of like for glaucoma.
