I recently bought some NF210s and have been debating about doing the install myself. I decided to get a few price quotes to see what it would charge to have a shop install them. I was quoted $240 + $60 alignment up to $500 for install and alignment. I felt pretty comfortable with the $300 guy but my question is, it cant really be worth $300 can it? Does anyone have an links to a self install? I figure its 3 bolts on the top and 2 on the bottom to take off the strut and have a shop with a compressor replace the spring and then bolt it right back in? Anyways, any feedback would be appreciated.
(EDITED)
So I went for an oil change and talked to the mechanic about the future plans for the car and he said he would put the springs in for $100 so I took him up on the offer. Now I just need some wheels and rubber for it! Anyways I added some pictures and measurements of what it looks like after if anyone is interested. The ride height of the car is 7.5" down the rail so it did a perfect job at leveling it out.
its just like another othert spring install. If you shoot me your number Ill talk you through it.
Basically renta spring compressor from any auto store. You need a long handle 17 mm wrench to get the top nut on the front struts, then undo the sway bar link and lower control arm bolts. Make sure you get them tight when installing or they will knock.
The rear you need to jack the rear wheels off the ground and support the car where the jack where normally go. Then undo the lower shock bolt and watch out as the bar will swing down. Then grab out the old springs, put in the new and reattach the shock bolts.
Id drive it 2 weeks then get the alignment, your toe should of off a few degrees and zeroed out.
