Default Installing Armrest

Hey guys,

I picked up my Insight a few hours ago. I did not opt for the dealer installed armrest. Are there any aftermarket armrests available? I'm starting to think I'll want one for longer road trips. The car is an '11 base model Insight.

Thanks!

I've spent a lot of time looking different parts, oem and aftermarket, and I've never seen anything but the official Honda part. I also can't imagine it'd be too difficult to instal, but it may require cutting carpet or removing the seats to have the space to maneuver. Again, I'm only guessing about that. Talk to your dealer, see how much they'll want for that part, probably your best bet.

I also looked into this and the guy told me at my local honda dealership that in order to do this you would have to change the whole piece. The base model which i have and love has the cup holders where the Arm rest would be so you would need to change the whole setup that comes with the armrest instead of the cup holders. i decided it was not worth it. Gotta be something you can buy to just add an armrest. For the money i decided to live without an armrest.

My Insight came with an armrest, so I don't know. However, my CR-Z came with only a cup holder. There is a Honda aftermarket armrest that involves some pretty complex installation and costs about $300. There is an 3rd party vendor that has an armrest that sits inside the cupholder and only costs about $100.

You might want to talk to ZetaProducts.net and see if they can work out an armrest solution for you. They are pretty easy to deal with. Zeta Products, Inc. Quality Accessories For Today's Hottest Vehicles.

I replaced the center console myself for the armrest storage box. I also added the USB module while doing it

I don't believe that link is specific to the Insight, which is why I didn't post it. I do understand the layout of the website which has a subchapter that is for CRZ/Insight. I would prefer a customer contact them directly, as I have never seen an Insight without a factory armrest. I'd bet that Zeta would offer you money back to try it if they didn't know for sure. Again, contact them.

I am sure that the Honda armrest kit for the CR-Z is not the same as I had in my Insight.

If the Zeta product is indeed applicable to the Insight, I do have one in my CR-Z. It fits very snug in the cup holder. It will move a little under pressure but does not spin freely. It comes with optional little friction strips to hold it tighter in the cup holder.

I emailed Zeta and they do not have a product for the insight due to low demand. They also will not confirm if the CR-Z armrest will fit, they will only say that it is designed for the CR-Z and have not tested it on an Insight.

Carniver:
When you replaced the onsole were you able to just purchase the connectors for the USB to add it in? How much was involved in swapping out the consoles? Did you have to remove the seats or lower dash?
