Default best all season tires?

i know theres threads bout what is the best tire but can i get a little more help here

im in socal and i need new tires after i had my yokohamas for over 40k
i liked them the only bad thing is that they were always to dull (brown)
ive seen tires that look shinny black but idk what brand they are and if theyre good
i found out that tires get brown cause of the atmosphere, temperature and the sun(read it from my auto mechanics book)

some companies add some chemicals to them so theyll stay shinny black
what do you guys think?

to "look" shiny black, you have to take care of it yourself. It doesn't come looking like "shiny". Use some of those gel/sprays you can buy from walmart, target, autozone, etc. If you don't take care of the tire and clean it often, it will look dull no matter what.

I think you have the grand touring tires vs the avids. I think the avids are a class of their own. I would search this forum, however most of the users look for all weather or cold weather performance as they experience all 4 seasons like myself. I have no compliants about the avids and have encouraged others to get them and they have no regrets.

As for the brown color, you could impress your class at automotive school if you told them that the tires just need a good cleaning and a fresh dressing. Here is an excerpt from another website on keeping the brown down and I believe it gives a pretty good description.....

Most people don't give a lot of thought to their tires except for how they look. Truth be known, your tires are designed to perform under extreme conditions of heat via kinetic energy transfer, high speeds for long periods of time and incredible forces of torque and flexing. That's a lot to ask from a chunk of rubber, inflated with air like a cream filled donut.

The science behind the modern rubber formulas used by major tire manufactures today is both complex and interesting. The rubber itself contains and ingredient called Antiozonant.

Antiozonant is an ingredient that helps to prevent the exterior rubber surface from cracking, checking, oxidizing, and deteriorating. The rubber is designed in such a way as to constantly work its way to the outside of the tire and as such, continually replenish the exterior surface with fresh antiozonant.

After the antiozonant works its way to the outside of the tire and is exposed to the ozone in the air, it turns brown. The technical term for this effect is blooming.

This is why you see a brown film on the surface your tires. You can wash your tires with soap or an all-purpose cleaner and remove this film, but in a few weeks, it's back. That's because the antiozonant continually works its way to the outside of the tires every time you drive your car.

Thus before applying a dressing you really need to do a thorough job of cleaning the outer surface of the tire to remove any spent antiozonants as well as any previously applied dressing and this will prepare the rubber to accept a fresh application of tire dressing.

Jay said you need to clean yo tires to get rid of the brown color.

He said any brand will become brown with what little care you give yours currently.

I clean my wheels n tires last giving both a good scrubbing, then once the water drys off I do the tire shine.

cheesie, you seem like a nice guy, but at times its hard to help you or even know what you are talking about. You post 4 times somewhat different each time about a problem and a solution and you will post a new post and in existing posts.

Those chemicals mentioned are all good depending on the need to make a car part look black. If your tires are discolored, wearing funny and not performing right, that sounds like a warranty issue or tire issue. No one else has the brown tires that you have. Ive never seen it myself, I mainly see worn, feathering and tread seperation and broken belts.

you probably need to learn how to detail your car better or at least take time on scrubbing the tire and apply the spray/gel correctly for the tires.
Here's a two pictures of my Insight as you can see the tires "look" shiny even though I didn't really clean it well since I don't have anything to scrub it and the gel wasn't really applied evenly. (pics are too big for the forum, too lazy to resize)

It gives a better look to spray some tire shine in the wheel well to make it blacker. I also wipe my door and hatch jams to give it a cleaner look.
