Other mpg mods, tricks and snake oil?
Since I have had my car back together from my accident I have been best able to get 54mpg. I was hitting in the mid 80s in highway upper 90s in stop n go with some hypermiling techniques.
I remembered I added a bottle of redline water wetter to the cooling system. I went to autozone again and got a bottle. I used a turkey baster to remove enough fluid to add it and put the over flow fluid in the reserve.
WOW, averaged 78 mpg going from 288 to temple ave on i95 s.
Anyone else care to try this? Its ten bucks for the bottle of water wetter and about 40 bucks for a gallon of antifreeze if you decide to drain and refil.
Ive also noticed the straight pipe gave a bit more power, but makes the car use less of the ima. It seems the ima assist is based on a number of factors including throttle position like the g1. So, if the exhaust is a bit backed up the car uses or burns less gas, but more IMA.
Ive got more of an acceleration lane to go from 288 to 95 vs 64 to 95, so I can afford to loose some ICE in favor of IMA with the PHEV for MPG.
