Cobb. What brand of oil do you use? Does your oil look somewhat dirty on the dipstick when you chage it? I have around 8k(with 10% remining on the MM) since the last oil change.

"Yes, sooner on both. Last oil change the indicator was showing 50%, but the Honda store that I go to is happy to see the extra $$'s."
Sorry, I forgot how to do the quote thing properly! Anyway, yes. I'm going to have the car on a Castrol engine warranty program. They will warranty the engine for up to 350K or 500K miles, depending on which of their oils you use. One caveat is that the oil must be changed at certain intervals... either 4K or 5K, again depending on which oil / program you use. I've never kept a car to even 100K miles, but thought this one might be a first for me.... we'll see!
The CVT fluid was changed because of the behavior off of a standing start... the 'grabby' thing, for lack of a better word. The CVT fluid filter was not changed, but the CVT is doing better now with just the fluid change. It's in another thread, but I will change the filter on the next CVT fluid change.
I have had the oil change indicator come on at 3000 miles a couple of times. I have chosen to go longer before changing the oil.
Why is your maintenance minder coming on so soon? The averages I've heard with the newer cars is between 7-9k miles. I use Amsoil which is a very high quality oil with a high TBN. With non hybrid cars, I've gone 12k miles(1 year) using an Amsoil Filter. I even had the oil analyzed one time at 11.5K and it was still good. The oil in the Insight doesn't get anywhere near as dirty as in conventional cars. I figure I could go to at least 9-10K. With the CVT I'm definitely not waiting until 30k for my first change.

I started using Honda 0w20 then switched to mobile 1. I tried a Mobile1 vs Honda filter, but couldn't see any differences. The oil is a dark brown after 10 thousand miles.
The ctv fluid was dark brown first change, 2nd was light brown, 3rd was nearly clear, so I just changed the filter that time.
Seems te
