10 free miles? Is that per day or year?

Must be for the Prius system. the IMA system takes too much dam power for a 200 watt panel to get that much distance.

From what I've read, It's a PHEV kit that also gets its charge from solar panels. The 200 watts is just the solar charger for the huge battery that comes with it. I don't see why you can't integrate solar panels into your Engineer PHEV kit for some charge on the go.

Its unclear by that article. For 2-3 grand that would be a steal if the solar panels, converter, bms, charger and battery pack is all included.

I am thinking solar and lifepo4 would be a great combination. I haven't had a chance to measure my rear glass and see what I can do with solar.

My suzuki sidekick has been taking all my time as it was under serviced and as I am knocking out these things I find more and more problems. I just adjusted the clutch, did the big 3 electrical upgrade, gave it a wash and reinstalled the trailer hitch I didn't put on right a few days ago and all of this dealing with the rollercoaster weather here.

I think that's for everything. I e mailed the owner of the company and told him that I was interested. He gave a very short reply saying it's just for Plug in Priuses or for Priuses that have PHEV Kits. I don't see why It can't work with Insights as well?

The only different between the prius is-----insert nasty comment here-----.

Anyhoo, you just need to turn the voltage down to 115-118 volts for the newer Honda. If the voltage output is adjustable, you got a new phev kit for us. Thats assuming the panels fit or conform to any roof or its flexible.

I wonder if I buy a grab bag of 160 of those cis cells on ebay that are 2.4 x 2.4 inches and put them on my roof and rear hatch if I coat them in clear proxy if that would be enough to protect them from the weather?

I was looking at those and the ones on Amazon as well. I bet some one, in the know, can build a kit with batteries, etc for like 1500 bucks.

When I use to have a website that exhibited all the wheelchair and low vision modifications I did for blind and physically impaired people I would get emails all the time from different China vendors telling me their production capacity.

I am sure if we got a bulk order for lifepo4 cells and solar cells we could easily get a kit down to that price. As is everything Enginer uses is sources from China. Most of the lifepo4 cells are made in China, like everything else.

I am working part time, so price is a real concern, plus I would want to do something I would get to see the return one way or another.

I am thinking you could do the eproxy coating of any cells that are on the roof with some backing so its removable, yet the cells are protected.

Id do what Mike DB2K did with the fixed solar panels if they didn't weigh so much and sit them on the hatch of my car with a support.

Maybe since I am after FREE ENERGY I would do better to build a small lifepo4 pack and carry it inside with me to work everyday, charge it, then bring it out to supplement my phev kit? Iv seen people plug in at stores for their cell phones.

Another idea is to add a 5th wheel that has regen capabilities and use it to its fullest to brake and capture that energy.

Maybe of all the ideas I should further explore the 5th wheel like what Mike DB2K had? But with lifepo4 cells?

A group Buy? Interesting.

I got a long e mail back from SEV. Basically they'll sell me a kit but want like 7 grand for the solar cells battery etc. 3k is just for the solar cells. They talk about a tax credit but still too much to lay out.

Thats what I figured, upwards to 10 grand. Solar and lifepo4 arent cheap.

Those quarter watt cells are a buck a piece roughly. Then you got to solder leads to them.
