Wink OEM AM/FM/XM Antenna Adaptor?

I Totaled My I2 on 11/15/2012 in a Head-On collision. 4 Air Bags blew off, and I was able to walk out and away Injury Free I really think it had a lot to do with the Cusco Struts I had installed...

I just bought a 2013 EX w/o Nav in A Cool Darker Blue! Having Leather Seats installed, instead of the Clazio Seat Covers
I plan on installing the struts on this one too, and will also continue to use Amaoil w/ a Trasco filter!

I can hardly wait to see what I can do with those paddle shifters.

Watch and see, I'll get told it's ready the same day the Blizzard and 6" of snow hit Northern Illinois!

Anyway...I've worked over 1000 hours of OT this year and have been gone way too long! This working is really getting in the way of my life!
I've missed you guys...

Now on to my newest dilemma...

I want to put an antenna like the one on our 2012 CRV on my I2.

They look very clean, and can even be covered with one of those shark fins... Although I'm not sure if you lose any reception.

I am going to get another Sirius compatible Stereo for this Insight and don't want to use that crummy magnetic one they give you when you buy the instal kit.

I've started a thread on the DigitalRadioCentral.com website where I heard a guy there can make one. Although that thread was 3 years old...

Anyone got any Ideas?

Any help at all is appreciated!

Default XM antenna

Fwiw, I too just bought a 2013 Ex w/o Nav and am wanting to upgrade to XM capability, but definitely want an XM antenna that looks great, not cobbled together or obviously aftermarket (in a bad way).

Default I bought an Antenna

I bought a CRV Antenna and the associated cable that goes with it. The fit looks compatible, and the actual swap looks feasible and not much trouble, but may be right up against the Rear Windshield Washer Fluid Nozzle. Still no reply at Digital Radio Central. So I'm not sure when I'll have the time to try and adapt the radio end of that cable to a regular Sirius Plug. I've yet to buy a new Sirius Compatible Radio anyway, so I still have some time to try. I've done plug modifications in the past but not on a satellite Radio Antenna. The tedious part I feel will be dropping the Headliner after disabling the side curtain Airbags. The Helm Service Manual isn't available for a 2013 yet, but the one for my previous 2011 I2 outlines the necessary steps, I just need to find the time.

I'll update here with pictures when I make some progress.

This is the antenna you want installed on the Insight, the reception is better than stock stick and it looks BMW.

This kind of sharkfin antenna works great, better looking, and no need to worry about automatic carwashes.

Default OEM AM/FM/XM Antenna Adaptor?

Wow, that color with the tinted windows and black accents in the tail lamps looks nice. Ive been on the fence about tinting my lamps this year myself. Guess I could just get the newer tails from the junkyard?

Id rather have a 6ft whip antenna or 3 3ft antennas and mount them randomly alone the roof.

Here is another shot of the antenna, notice it fits perfectly without blocking the wiper fluid nozzle. The FM gets much better signal than stock, FM traffic picks up faster and stations sound great.uploadfromtaptalk1359504695491.jpg

This is where I ordered mine. Had to email them for the special paint code for my '12 Truffle Pearl.

Default Shark Fin Cover

I'm considering getting one of those covers if it fits. Did you have any room to move it more forward if you wanted? That may be a factor over the CRV Antenna Base. If I am unable to modify the OEM connection on that, an option I may have to go with may be putting the Sirius antenna on the original base and go with one of those Shark Fins over them both.

I'm a Licensed Reactor Operator and we have a refueling outage starting April 1st, so I'll be busy for a while. I hope to get to this stuff soon.

Thanks for your contributions
