Default LED replacement bulbs & CANbus errors

I was looking to replace the lighting in my 2012 LX with LED bulbs. Found lots of choices, especially on carid & superbrightleds, but I also read about the dreaded (ok, more like annoying) CANbus errors that sometimes happen when swapping out the stock incans for LEDs. Some of the LED bulbs sold online are billed as "CANbus error-free", but I've also seen reviews where people who used the supposedly error-free LEDs still get the CANbus errors. The fix to the CANbus errors seems simple enough, to use load resistors.

So has anyone experienced CANbus errors after changing the interior or exterior lighting to LED? Or maybe you changed to LED bulbs without any problems & never even heard of CANbus errors before?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Nope not a problem with the gen 2 insight. THe ony problem you will have is hyper flashing if you switch out the turn signal bulbs.

That's great to know. Guess I'll be ordering some LED bulbs soon. Thanks for the info.

Basically all you got all the side markers and license plate lights, they are 194 bulbs. The head lights can be hid. The city light in the high beam socket I opted for a 168 amber bulb.

YOU CANNOT replace the upper side marker lamps in the rear taillight assembly with LEDS and no resistance. I've blown out both circuit boards on both sides of the rear tail lights. Once was covered under warranty, the second one wasn't and still is limping along without the 3-side lamps.

Interesting..... The first gen 2 s have a single regular bulb in the rear tails. Ive often wondered why the tail/brake is led where as that side marker is not.

I've been slowly replacing all of my incandescence bulbs with LEDs from either Sylvania or Philips when available, if not then from VLEDs. Is there a specific amount of resistance I should use on the upper side maker lamps so I don't blow out the circuits?

I am interested in this as well. I will talk to my Electrical Engineering professor as well.

If you are trying to find the right resistance you need to take out the bulb and measure the resistance with a multi meter across the contacts. Since the circuit boards were designed for this resistance, you should be able to put a resistor in parallel with the LED or purchase an LED with the resistance that matches.

I still need someone who can repair my Taillight, any one?

Well I figured, I'd take a risk and if need be bust out the multimeter and soldering iron to repair circuits as needed.

So far all is well. I've now replaced almost all of the bulbs in my car with LEDs (not the one under the shifter yet, that's a pain to get to and will be a spring project and obviously not the high/low beams) including the upper corner red parking lights in my tail lights and nothing burned out.

I wound up using these bulbs:
Standard Red 194 6 LED - Red - 194 - 168 - 158 LED - Miniature Wedge Base - Bulb Type

Their 10 led replacement bulb was too long and wouldn't fit. The 6 led is nice and bright compared to the stock incandescent.

I am curious to see how these led headlights compare to a stock bulb & HID, just not $120 curious.
