Hi All,
Bumped into a friendly Prius owner, figuratively, and shared hybrid thoughts. He just bought a new one for just over $23,000. Asked him how, I think he said he went up to Virginia where dealers are not allowed to gouge on new cars that are hard to get.
Anyway, he had a beautiful dash cover, I asked from where, here it is; http://www.dashtopper.com/ , I found this site, they make them the for our Insight, just about any color they say.
Also, as I had posted once before somewhere, Heat Shield makes a windshield sun cover for the Insight. I have one, excellent quality. The part number for the Insight is 799.
You can find them at http://www.canvasworks.com/ . Jack
Dealerships don't gouge consumers unless consumers let them. The Internet allows consumers to get the best price possible yet many still over pay. Consumers have the power to control pricing, if only many of us would realize it.

Jack - I bought a dashcover from Dashtopper - I've actually bought a few from them. The one I bought for the Insight is the last, though. It wasn't cut right, I sent it back. They returned it with the same problem I sent it with. I wouldn't advise buying from Dashtopper unless you're handy with a sewing machine, and have access to a good fabric store that carries the same material Dashtopper uses. When I called them, they refused to make it right. Caveat emptor!

I've noticed that HandA-Accessories started carrying a "dark gray velour" version of the Dash Topper. THey have it for $36.38 compared to $49.95 from dashtopper.com. If it doesn't fit though, that's still not worth it.
Hey, Jim, I also got my dash cover from Dash-Topper (Part # 1171G4) and it fit perfectly right out of the box (like you, I'm a repeat customer, always satisfied). The only trouble I ever had with them was a dash cover for our Mercedes years ago (too big for the dash, it kinked on one end) and they took care of it immediately and without any problems. What kind of mis-fit did you have with yours? I'm kind of surprised they didn't take care of you...

Hi There,
That part number 1171G4 that fit right, what color was it. Iv'e been thinking a dash cover might insulate the dash vents from the heat a little. Does it help? Thanks, Jack
I ordered "black" but the color is really a "dark gray" which I found very attractive. It does NOT cover the dash vents...

Hi Boogety,
Sorry, I was thinking of when I don't use the Sun Shield how the sun on the dash makes it real hot and that seems to heat the air coming out of the vents for quite a while here in Florida. Was thinking that the carpet might act as insulation to keep dash cooler. Does it have an effect? Thanks, Jack

It's been back in the box so long I forget - they took care of one problem, but (if I recall correctly) the passenger air bag cover is cut wrong in the corners.

Jackmpg: Don't know if it retains or rejects heat. Keeps the dash looking super brand new, other than that... all they claim is that their material is "acoustically transparent" in case you use their products in vehicles that have a dash speaker or two...
Jim: I didn't notice if the airbag cutout is an exact match for the airbag cutout... I do know it's a different piece that has to be velcroed separately and positioned accurately [which I did]. I figure if the airbag is going off, no matter what the cutout looks like, the bag is going to pop out and save my achin' head regardless ('cause My Beloved would be driving me around)...
