Insight loaded with techno gadgets

Hey Folks,

I recently added an iPod, stereo, and satellite navigation system to my Insight. Now this car is more high tech than ever. Here is a link to my web page with a picture.

Here are all the various pieces:

1) 30 GB iPod with a red display. The display was modified by http://www.ipodmods.com. I wanted a red display, because the normal white display of the iPod was too bright for nightime driving.

2) A Garmin StreetPilot 2720 navigation system with a FM NavTraffic receiver. I would HIGHLY recommend this navigation system. It works better than any nav system that I have used in the past.

3) Mounting devices were purchased from http://www.proclipusa.com. I was able to mount both the iPod and nav system to the middle left air vent. No drilling was required. Everything is held in by friction and a small piece of adhesive.

4) I also added a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X789 stereo receiver. I got this receiver because of it's ease of use, satellite radio support, and most importantly it's AUX input on the back (for the iPod). The stereo was easy to install.

5) Infinity Reference 6012si speakers. These speakers are drop-in replacements for the factory speakers, and sound quite a bit better. Installation was easy. I still need to add a subwoofer though.

6) Kenwood Sirius satellite radio adapter "SIRIUS SIR-KEN1". This was easy to install also. I mounted the antenna inside the car, and reception is pretty good. However, now and then there are drop-outs. I might have to move the antenna outside.

I would highly recommend all of the products mentioned in this post. Feel free to ask questions if you're interested in doing something similar to your car.

The to making it all work properly is finding gear that matches your vehicles dash lighting. While they are great gadgets you have there, they really don't match the dash lighting.
