Between the front and back wheels on each side of the car there are 3 90 degree flanges, use these points. I usually lift at the center one and place a jack stand under the front one to get access up there.

I don't understand what you mean. If you mean the points the manual lists for the jack for changing the tire, I bent one of these the last time I put the car up--I don't htink it's meant for real jackstands.
If it's not those what do you mean? Do you mean along the axle (or where an axle would be) for the front and rear?
When I need to get the Insight off the ground, I use the middle jack points (under the doors) to raise the entire side off the ground and then place jackstands under the front and rear jack points. Then repeat on the other side. I've had no problem using this method and all the jack points seem very sturdy. Without going into the details, I KNOW the middle points are very strong.

i have found that i dont need to jack up the car to do an oil change. i can reach all the bolts for the front aero cover by lying down in front of the car. that gives me access to the filter. for the drain plug, i can reach it by going over the top and down the back face of the engine. i made a small trough out of a 6" x 10" piece of aluminum, which i lay sideways on the rear aero cover. this lets the oil drain into a small plastic tray placed under the center opening of the aero cover aft of the engine.
much easier done than said, once i figured it all out.

I may hold the record having the Insight up in the air (jackstands) the most often. Over the past 3 years, I have done this approx 70 times. I spend alot of time cleaning the underside. As has been mentioned previously, I have a rolling (aluminum) floor jack, and always raise one entire side of the car at the middle jack point. Then I put stands under the front and rear. Then I repeat on the other side of the car. Then I go back to the other side and raise the stands higher. I have even made an adapter to better fit the long jack point flange, where it contacts the pad on my floor jack.
