Default Insight Engine series?

Hi guys, I'm new to this site and was doing a little searching but I couldn't find what I was looking for. I was just wondering what the engine series for the honda insights was. I mean for a GSR integra its a B18C1, for the del sol's it's mostly D series engines.

Just trying to figure it out.

Thanks

Hi catawalks and welcome to the forum

According to the 00-02 Factory Service manual its:

ECA1 - xxxxxxx (x= sequential production number)

ECA1: 1.0L SOHC VTEC 12-valve sequential multiport fuel-injected engine.

The Insight's engine is unique unto itself within the Honda line. Remember it's a 3 cylinder.

Engine swaps, sure. But with the much greater dimensional differences I can't imagine that it will be a bolt-in (those specs aren't in the manual). Nor will its _hyper_ MPG potential _likely_ be realized in another vehicle. It takes a _lot_ of balance in _all_ the other factors to achieve that.

HTH!

Default ENGINE

As far as my memory and research goes, the Insight engine is a "E" series.
