Default 2005 Insight mod for CA HOV compliance?

Hello All,
I just got a 2005 insight and was disapointed to find out it wasn't eligible for CA HOV stickers.
Is there any sort of modification that can be made to make it compliant with the CA HOV requirements?
Thanks for the help.

Just apply for the stickers, and you will probably get them. I have a 2005 also, and they gave me the stickers. Good luck!

Default HOV stickers

Here in the Bay Area (SF) You first have to get a special Hybrid Fastrac bridge toll transponder. Try here:

http://www.bayareafastrak.org/

After that is recieved you must apply for the new HOV stickers, which can't be mailed until after 1 Jan 07 when the new law goes into affect.
This will qualify you for the HOV lanes but I don't believe you are excused from paying bridge tolls. (Unless they changed it recently)

The hybrid sticker option was supposed to expire in '08 but I think it has been extended until 2011

I have stickers on the Insights.

The toll transponders are just regular ones and you can use them in any vehicles you drive.

You do pay a toll, but interestingly it is less than the cash you pay at the booth. I think that is true of all fasttrak tolls, however.

CA DMV doesn't appear to care what year your Insight is (or else doesn't check). I had no problem getting stickers; but I was sure to indicate my '06 was ULEV (as opposed to SULEV). So if they ever do come after me, at least I didn't lie on the form!

This link seems to indicate you need the Hybrid FasTrac transponder before you get the sticker, perhaps they are lax on checking .
