Default does the EGR valve have a gasket at all?? mine doesn't

does this mean its been changed and they didn't put a gasket on or does it just not have one???

Yes, It should have a gasket. Take a knife and scrape the mounting point on the block and egr. It is a graphoil gasket that may seem like part of block or egr.

Put a gasket on it next time you have it off.
