Hi Wayne,
The SOC does not matter much, as it will do a charge cycle and then a positive recal when the power is reconnected. The SOC should behave normally after that.
Call if you have any problems.
Good luck, and don't let out that magic smoke.

I will be out tomorrow AM to check out my cousins Green 2000 insight that got totaled this past monday.
She was hit broadside just behind the passenger door by a bigger car going 45 that ran a redlight.
She said the car got airborne, crashed over a pile of bricks and construction rubble, which tore up the underneath, and tore off the front bumper.
Amazingly She got out and walked away, but the car is totaled. I may see if we can buy it back from the insurance co.
I will at a minimum snap a few photos.

"I may see if we can buy it back from the insurance co."

If you can, I'd be interested in some assorted parts...

So far so good, I did a vacuum oil change, pulled off the snow tires and did all part removal work including the extrusion. The only thing that I've done outside of the instructions is remove the passenger seat to have move room to work. I'm not one of those 120lb insight pilots....all that in about three hours. Next step install the harness tubes and then the wire harness. Finally some nice weather, just taking my time...

Mike- I watched your video this weekend, and I'm very happy to have such good customer service.
That is / was helpful to have. Thank You!

Since the video cuts in and out, how long in hours should it take a newbie to do this?
( I'm good with car stereos and even soldering, which this does not require, so I'm just new to MIMA. )

I for SURE need FAS! Interesting tho... with a normal autostop last night, I had the car in N and was going down a residential street. I had my foot very gently on the brake, and at 19 MPH, got AS. Then the hill got steeper, and the car accelerated up to about 26 or 27 MPH, and I still had my foot very lightly on the brake, and I still had AutoStop!

Is this normal behavior? I'm asking in this thread because I for sure want the FAS part of MIMA because I have hills all over he place where I can coast for miles with engine off... if the car would let me! ( I got good at this in 'other' hybrid cars with 40 MPH EV limits.... ) Thanks! -John

Don't know about normal, but it does happen for me sometimes. Not reliably, and seems to end at ~40 mph regardless.

I would allow a full day for a first time installer that is following my triple check rules.
No reason to rush it and then spend a day trying to track down what is wrong.
I have completed a full install with FAS in 3 hours, but I have installed nearly 20 of them.
When I do an Install, I also try to take a nice long test drive with the new MIMA driver, to make sure everything is working well, and that the driver is up to speed, which can take another hour or so.

In my experience, once the car comes to a complete stop in AS, if you are on a down hill you can release the brakes, let gravity accelerate you to any speed and it will stay in AS. Same with FAS, once you are in neutral, and the engine is off, the speed is not a factor.
If AS engages while decelerating, and you don't come to a full stop, it seems that it will try to restart if you speed back up.
I tend to use FAS well above 19MPH on a deceleration to a stop, so I don't get to use the stock AS much.

gpsman - I spent about 4 hours yesterday working on my install. I am just taking my time, I've had my kit for about 5 months and I can say that if you live in a cold climate, you would probably be happier installing it in the spring. (I know I am) I have everything installed, except now I have to do the good stuff ( the harnesses wiring , testing, and finish work )

So at this time the car is not yet mimafied, but I just reconnected the battery, flipped the breaker and it started right up.

Mike - I think I saw a recal for the first time...don't forget I have a fairly new pack and new mcm, bcm, ecm... When I turned the car on - no bars - I let it idle and it was in a force charge state for about 10 minutes after 4 bars, force charge stopped and the meter just kept adding a bar about every 30 seconds or so till all were lit up....interesting stuff. Can't wait to play with Mima and then get into PIma...My kid is exited to - She'll probably be doing a science project on this.

It will interesting to see what the mpg is now that the snow tires are off and a good 50 lbs of stuff is out of the car, most of that the passenger seat.

Hopefully good weather next weekend to finish.
