Default LED interior illumination

Has anybody put any LED mods inside their Insight? I'm trying to decide on the best option for the dome/map lights given the tight space up there. The standard imported 1W LED wedge bulbs work fine, but I thought it would be cool to step it up for the Insight. My favorite are the super bright flux-type LED boards available from places like: http://www.oznium.com/led-dome , but it might take some modification to fit in the available space. I also need to get some footwell illumination for "ambient atmosphere lighting" that is very pleasant on dark journeys. Post pictures if you have any on what you have done to brighten the inside of your Insight.

have not done it, but SVOboy on gassavers.org did it a while back on his crx, and there is a step by step diy guide on the led dome board he built, search g-s for it. He and I and the rest of the '05-06 veterans from g-s formed a mass exodus, and are now instead on ecomodder.com. There are helpful diys on both sites. I will probably buy the kit from the site you linked.

Japanese specification Insights had green footwell illumination (not sure whether it was standard or an option) - however they only switched on at the sametime as the cabin light. They were shown on the Japanese Honda website, it might be cached somewhere [EDIT - just found them on InsightCentral, see 'Pedal Light Kit' near the bottom of this page: http://www.insightcentral.net/KB/faq-ac ... ccessories ]

For the center dome light, I installed what you currently see for eBay item number 370012108249 ... It was a tight fit but that is what you want anyway and it does fit without any mods. It was a while back when I did it but I beleive that I used the thicker foam tape and placed it one the sides of the assembly. It provides a lot of light when you open the door and looks pretty good too. There is quite a difference in color.

For the rear, I used something that looks like this item number 270136747501...Since there is not much room in the rear housing, you have to be careful what type you get...You want the ones that are t10 x 31mm and ones that don't stick out too far or else you will not get the lens cover back on.

I don't have any pictures but if I did, it probably wouldn't do it justice anyway since pictures of lights usually don't turn out good compared to seeing it in person. But after you install these, you will be glad you did

I plan on adding 4 white LED lights, two under the radio and one each above passenger & driver footwells. I added something similar to my Honda Element with good results. I'll post pictures when I do the install.

corey, how would you control them, or would they just stay on while driving? My dad has had an insight since '02, and I drove it for a year. Great vehicle, I used to use it as a house when I was commuting to and from school. during exams i fit a double mattress in the back, with the rear seats removed, and the fronts pushed forwards, I would study til 3-4am, then crash in the lot before an exam. Very spacious. Of course with the aerodynamics of a barn door, it goes thru windshields like crazy, and gets mediocre gas mileage. Wish it came with the ctdi engine for some sweet 30+mpg SUV 5spd action. My dad has the auto, but a friend has the 5spd, and it is so much fun.
