I ran into this add in Popular Science, and got an e-mail from one of the guys asking my opinion.

It would be very interesting to know if this concept actually works. They offer your money back if you don't double your MPG.

Well, it says guaranteed to increase your mileage by 50%... so, wouldn't that mean a 60 mpg car would get 90 mpg, not 120? I hate percentage increases... they mess with my head.

Sounds theoretically plausible -- who's gonna try it, and let us know if it works?

If it really works for motor homes as the website suggested, I would recommend it to my mom... they get 6 mpg in their diesel pusher... oh wait, it probably wouldn't work for a diesel, right? Do they have catalytic converters? I think my ignorance is showing...

So, yeah, it's a total scam. I feel foolish.

Preheating the gasoline may help, and injecting Brown's gas into the engine might help as well. The magnets are voodoo science, and the "additive?".......well I suppose one could add vodka to the gas in your tank and get better gas mileage, but you'd be spending a lot on vodka. Note that the offer is to give you back the money you paid for the parts, not the labor. As for the majic computer add on, it probably allows your engine to run leaner which would likely mess up your emissions. The final part of the system is just a carnival come on. It will never happen. I think as gas prices rise we will see more of this!
