Is the spare tire rim lighter than the stock wheels?

It seems the spare has no weight on it at all. I know the tire weighs nothing but the rim itself seems to be different. Is this the case?

The stock wheel is 5.5" wide. The spare wheel with the space saver tire is 4" wide.

I don't have the stock wheels for reference just a spare. There aren't any tires for a 4" rim either so there goes that idea.

But is the spare a 14" diameter rim also? And what is the weight difference between the stock rim and the spare rim?

The space saver rim is 14". Don't know the weight difference between the two, but it's probably not too much.

I was also wondering the answer to this question when i bought my insight it came with a standard rimmed tire as the spare... I wonder if it weighs more and has been hurting my mpg numbers a little bit. Does anyone have the technical information on this?

Are you sure your spare is the standard size wheel? From the back side, it looks like it is. Take the wheel loose and turn it over. If it is bright yellow on the outside, it is the space saver wheel. A full size wheel and tire won't fit in that limited space. If it is a full size wheel, do you want to sell it? I'm looking to replace one of my wheels that got bent.
