Here's a link to an article about using a resistor and capacitor to smooth out throttle inputs to the ECM. The idea is to allow you to stay in lean burn more consistently.
I had thought to do something similar to that except use something like it on the CVT control module instead (I don't have lean burn). I was thinking of a way to delay throttle response slightly when starting an incline so that the CVT does not react as quickly for just slight hills (staying in a lower ratio for a little longer). I was thinking of using one of these: http://www.tessco.com/products/displ...08&eventPage=1 and a resistor on the throttle posistion signal only when going slightly uphill (and using another one as a cut-off if the hill is steeper and really needs a different ratio). Perhaps a delay (or smoothing) of this sensor to the TCM would end up being better without the need for a second cut-off incline sensor. Also, some kind of safety (back to default signal) if the TPS goes above a certain voltage.
Sorry about commenting on a non lean burn usage but it may have some use for the CVT models. This guy sounds like he can improve the lean burn window for those that have a hard time maintaining steady gas pedal pressure (steady voltage from the TPS) so it may be worth a shot as long as you don't put in too much of a delay (if for some reason you really had to start out fast)

I was just looking over the ECU sheet that came with the mima install kit. Is the TPS line quoted in the article "TPS sig", the Red Black wire running into the ECM?
The article doesn't give any detailed instructions. If this is the correct wire, will it interfere with mima operation as mima taps this line also?
I am game once I verify the connections and that it won't interfere with mima. On Mikes ECM sheet I see TPS V+, TPS signal, and TPS Gnd, hopefully these are the points referenced in the article.

I think that you would be using TPS signal and TPS Gnd for this mod but the question for MIMA installs would be, do you allow this smoothing signal to go to MIMA as well or do you tap MIMA into the "real" signal just before this mod.
I believe Mike uses the MAP and TPS signal for several functions within MIMA so smoothing out this TPS signal may be good for MIMA as well (perhaps JoyLock will benefit). Both MIMA and the ECM will think that you have a more steady foot on the accellerator without jerky fluctuations. However, the MAP signal will remain the same and it seems many functions within MIMA (like PIMA and ABC) use the MAP signal.
Mike, is there any downfall that you can think of having MIMA receive the "smoothing signal" ?

The article also mentions using a forward facing air intake to good effect, but how is that going to compare to the hot intake option? Anyone care to speculate....
