well my 2000 isn't blowing quite as cold as last year so I decided so add some freon.
I bought the kit with the hose/gauge and dumped 1 can in. The gauge reads right on the line of too low and good -- seemed like it barely moved when I put the small can in.
has anyone else added freon with this type gauge and is it fairly accurate?
actually used this can....

Under the hood there is usually a little sticker that talks about the amount of freon that goes in the system. Add up how much you put in verse how much the system holds. Because sometimes those little guages on the can dont work to good, and it might also show that if you put in more than your system holds and it is still warm there may be a leak. Just thought id put in my 2 cents
Do your self a favor and prevent frustration and agrivation take it to a certified Automotive A/C tech. The R134 systems are very sensative to the amount of freon charge. To much they wont cool, to little they wont cool. As much difference as 3 ounces either way can make a difference.

so I found out - added about 1/2 can more and the compressor didn't want to stay on....kept cycling on/off.
I just don't understand how you can put too much...seems like it just wouldn't suck any more in when its full -- its not like I have a compressor hooked up to it.

It is a compressed container isn't it?
Can have the same effect as a compressor.
well, today it was like 97 F here so I called 3 different Honda dealers for price quotes on a/c check.
my LAST resort came thru -- I called at 445p at begged them to squeeze me in -- they evacuated the system and recharged it for $44 incl tax. (some Honda dealers wanted to charge $89 !!!).
anyway - its back to blowing ice cold!
wife will be happy on tomorrow's ride home from work!
