Default CVT Growl and Engine Misfire

A friend recently had his 01 Insight with 165,000 miles tuned-up. Shortly after it started missing and the transmission started growling. It threw a code (didn't have the number) that showed "all cylinders misfiring." I would like to think that the shop knocked a vacuum line or electrical lead off and caused this. It was a local "reputable" independent shop. He is about 150 miles away so phone info is all I have. Any ideas???

He took it to a Honda dealer in St. Louis today and they changed the fluid in the trans. They said metal particles were in the oil. They also said the misfire codes were caused by the trans???

Not exactly a high tech test and always VERY bad reguarding the transmission.

Hmmm,

Tricky one there. Personally I'd doubt it, but with the trans in such poor condition clearing the codes and road testing is probably out of the question.

Sorry to hear about the bad news.

Yes, the metal particles in the oil pretty much tell the story of the growl being a bad noise . I don't understand the trans throwing the misfire codes either.
