Default Installing Cruise control

Hello,
I am in process of installing Rosta Cruise control in 2002 CVT Insight and have a few questions.

Does the tach signal have to be connected and is so where do I connect it ?

There are two wires that appear to be for brake, can they be connected to one of the two switches on brake pedal or is it necessary to use the switch that cam with cruise control ? It does not look like there is a good location to install a third switch on brake pedal.

The instructions say one wire is for constant 12 volt on brake and other to switched 12 on brake, is there a reason to connect constant 12 volts at brake switch or can it be tied to 12 volt that comes on when powered up (accessory 12 volt) ? Is there a more convenient location to get the brake signal from than at the brake switch next to brake pedal ?

I have read the installation account that Tim Hudson wrote but it is for a manual transmission and does not cover the CVT so what differences are there in the installation ?

I have been putting off the installation for several years now and am hoping I can get it working.

Thanks for any help,
George K

Hi ... Did you get your install done? I purchased the Rosta kit and the install went great on my 01 CVT. I'll be happy to assist if you still have questions.

I completed the installation and it is working. I did install both the speed and RPM signal lines, found location in tech manual. According to the instructions the RPM signal is supposed to prevent engine from over revving if you should accidentally shift to neutral while the cruise control is still engaged but when I tested it the engine RPM started to increase till I stopped it. Did you install RPM wire or just ground it ? Does it stop engine from over revving ? It may be that it would eventually stop it at a higher speed if I did not but I did not want to let it get too high just to find out and possibly do damage to engine.

Thanks for your reply,
George

I just grounded the TACH wire and did not hook up the NSS wire. I did not easily locate the source for the NSS by might go back and do it later. The installation with the nice aluminum angle piece and wireless remote looks BETTER than factory. I'm very happy with the quality of this after-market unit and would recommend it highly.
