Default Insight PCV vs. VX/CX PCV

Anyone know why the insight has a regular loaded pcv valve rather than the gutted 90 degree piece of hollow tubing that supposedly increased efficiency on the 92-95 cx/vx? Is there something inherently different in the design of the insight engine that would make for poor running conditions if the pcv were gutted as in the cx/vx? Anyone have any ideas?
