Just wondering if anyone had the rear speaker cut out template? I could paypal you a few $$€€££ for postage etc.
I have speakers under the carpet and cut out the white stuff under it, so they move, but its just for some bass kick, but would like to cut out the carpet and install grills too now.
might be easy to make the templates from cardboard...
Ive been wondering, but havent looked yet, did they prewire these for speakers even if the "upgrade" wasn't ordered?
I installed a set of Boston acoustics in my doors today and tossed the paper coned oem units. what a difference it makes, even with the stock cassette deck head unit..

Wires are there. Just pull back the carpet, take out the inserts and the wire is there. I put my old speakers into them, cut out the foam in the carpet around where they would rub and hey presto, BASS!!!!

You really don't need them, just push around till you find the dip in carpet back behind the seats and when you find the deepest dip ,make a small slit with a razor knife then follow it out slowly till you find the edge, you can stop early and make the circle and always go back and fine tune it later,it's cupped right there now with a plastic insert you remove.
I believe all model years are capable of having rear speakers. They came standard in the 2004 onward models (when they changed the interior color) but the holes in the metal and wires are already there on the earlier models. The unused holes are covered with a removable plastic round plate.

This was virtually my first mod on our 2001, and I didn't use no stinkin' templates, I just used my Exacto knife from the approximate middle of the soft spot and worked my way out (ozzalien's suggestion is right on-spot). I bet I had both speakers installed from zero to blasting in less than a half hour. The biggest hassle, honestly, was getting the seat backs to move forward with the handle in the most unaccessible, most unergonomic location in a non-French car ever.

Bump, still interested in somebody's old template if they have it. Thanks,
