Default Rear Spring Modification - U.S. Cars

Can anyone tell me if the Daewoo Matiz rear spring is the same as the Chevrolet Aveo (Daewoo Kalos) springs?

Thanks.

I can't answer your question directly but I did install Chevrolet Aveo springs on the rear of my Insight. I had to cut a coil or coil and a half out to achieve the same height as stock, fyi. I didn't realize that would be needed but it wasn't a big deal and they've been working fine. It helped w/the harsh bottoming out somewhat but I wouldn't say the difference is all that dramatic either. For $50, it's not a bad mod.

Do you happen to have the part number for the Aveo springs? Makes it much easier to order them from the Chevy dealer.

I just received and installed a set of Matiz springs. Uncompressed the springs were about 1" shorter than stock, but installed the rear sits about 2" higher. In fact I can now see the full Honda emblem on the rear wheels.

The rear is now much firmer and in my opinion drives much better especially on bumps. There is a section of city road nearby that has storm channels at every intersection, usually I bottom out in these if I go > 10mph, now it won't bottom and feels more firm. However the ride is more harsh when on rough dirt roads, not that I care much. Highway mpgs seem unaffected.

Hmm - another way to approach this. I may get the lowered matiz kit off ebay (they are about 1.25" shorter than the stock matiz spring) & if I can find em the matiz "bump"

enjoy -

I'm going to leave the springs as they are. The extra 1.5 - 2" isn't very much and makes the car look slightly more aggressive. The ride and handling has been great so far and mileage is unaffected.

I wonder if Gabriel Shock Company makes any adjustable air shocks. I put a set on my Chevy S-10 a few years back. Ran them 25 psi without a load and 90-100 psi with a load.

They work great, less expensive and a less hassle way to increase the load capacity.

Pump them up using a hand or foot pump. They had an optional 12 volt automatic air pump kit as well.

It 's difficult to say. You can check them in the car shop.
