For that price, you can buy a 4 in. grinder from Harbor Freight with a disc grinder and grind a groove in the floor jack cap.......

I'm not cheap..Just tight and a fabricator.

I don't have any aluminum experience, but when you set a car up on a frame rack you use that pinch weld to secure the car while you apply mega forces in whatever direction needed. I always thought that pinch weld was very strong and never gave a moment's notice to jacking my Insight using a 2X4 on my jack. Like someone else mentioned, your jack needs to be able to roll under it as the jack is raised. Something is going to give if the jack is not able to move under the car and I doubt the two tires on the other side are going to drag over to where the jack wants it. That will certainly put a strain on the pinch weld or tab.

How high are you going to jack it? With one side up far enough to get the wheel off there is minimal side load on the tab. On the other side the tires will flex enough to reduce the load on the tabs..

Default Jack points...

Guess I didn't look (well enough) before I leaped. The Insight jacking situation is pretty much nothing like my Miata. You jack/jack stand on the tabs - much as most people have said - jack from the middle tab, prop on jack stand on the front and rear. Here's some picts for posterity:

Front tab on jack stand, middle tab:

Middle tab:

Rear tab on jack stand:

My first oil change is close also, I plan on using drive on ramps. There's a "downgrade" right in front of my garage that if the ramps are positioned right, the Insight will be sitting level when on the ramps...be sure it's level for oil draining, and drain when hot...the hotter the better!

Going from Dino to synthetic also...
