Default Auto stop question

Is there a way to have the autostop feature work every time you come to a stop? Possibly an aftermarket mechanism? New to the Insight community and to this forum.
Thanks,
Tony

Welcome, Tony. As long as your Insight is warmed up and you don't have the heater or A/C on, you should be in autostop mode. Mike D. at Is it too late? I think not if we act now - MIMA Honda Insight Modified Integrated Motor Assist sells a FAS add-on, but I'm not sure if it works as a unit separate from the MIMA system he sells. Check out the link. Good luck, man.

Tony,

From what I have read on the forum, the auto stop feature works when the outside air temperature is above 40°F. Mine seems to work when it's a little higher than this, maybe closer to 45°F or so.

JoeCVT has mentioned in on the the threads that you can move the air temperature sensor from directly behind the grill to somewhere closer to the engine and get the auto stop to work at lower temperatures. Joe goes on to describe how to do this, so you may want to search for that. He posted about two months ago, if that helps.

Jim.

Default Thanks for the responses but...

It only stops if I depress the pedal once but if I "pump" the breaks it won't autostop. So my question is if there's a fix/mechanism that will allow it to autostop each time I come to a stop. I hope I'm stating this clearly.
Thanks again.

Also, make sure if you are using the AC, that it is in the economy mode setting.

Pumping the brakes will deplete the vacuum reservoir (odd concept: depleting vacuum which will force the engine to restart. With antilock brakes, pumping the brakes isn't necessary for shortest braking distances, but I doubt that this is why you are pumping your brakes.

If yours is a manual transmission Insight, it should autostop every time your car stops if the operating temperature is high enough, the transmission isn't in first gear, the A/C is off or in ECON mode, your speed since the last autostop exceeded something like 10 mph (e.g., not in stop-and-go traffic), and the power brake vacuum booster reservoir isn't depleted (I probably forgot a few more situations).
