Default Insight for sale with odd modification

I was perusing ads when I came across this car:

Honda : Insight:eBay Motors (item 150357357608 end time Jul-13-09 18:25:05 PDT)

If you scroll down to the pics, he has a 700W AC/DC power converter mounted behind the engine and AC plugins in both the engine and passenger compartment.

It looks like it is for a ham radio, but I'm not positive. I thought it might be interesting to all the tinkerers here.

It just looks like he mounted a 700 watt inverter in the car. Notice the AC outlets on the passenger side of the console, and the covered switch behind it (probably to shut it off).

I like the pin-stripe, though. It looks good.

Thats something I want to install in my car.

Inverters through your cig plug are limited.

Anyone figured out to add or extend the existing 12V cig plug to the console or rear area?

I would love to put the cell phone in the console, and be able to access 12V in the rear cargo area for an electric cooler or air compressor, etc.

Im installing a 700 watt amp and running 4g wire to the back for mines. I guess I can add a cig plug too? I am mounting everything to a piece of plexi glass for show and installation ease with connectors. This way it can be removed for cargo room needs.

Sounds like your installing/modifying correctly, its best to do things properly rather than fixings things later.
