Mods... can we sticky this? I've bookmarked it, but others will certainly benefit from this compendium henceforth...

Thanks, IamIan...

I am attaching bellow a zip version of the :

A Practical Hybrid 6 page paper ( MS Word ) which outlines a simulation of using a 2nd clutch between the IMA motor and the ICE.

The old Google backup of my old web site is gone ... so this way people can still have acess to it if they wish.

Detailed Crash test reports added ... several hundred pages for each vehicle type , CVT & MT.

If interested in other vehicles you can get this raw data from the government crash tests on most vehicles using the link bellow.

Red face Driver's side window stuck

I recall seeing several posts related to opening the interior door panel & repairing the window when the track has failed. I've ordered a reloacement sw assy but want to verify the window track isn't the issue!
Could you reply with a link to the applicable thread?
My search ability is clearly deficient!
Thanks!

Regarding the first publication on "Advanced Technology Vehicle Modelling". I hate to question a .gov publication, but in equation (1) it says the mass is in tonnes, however the power is in Watts so I've a problem with the units, ie shouldn't the mass be in kg?

No reason to 'hate to question a .gov' ... they are people to ... no body is perfect ... everybody can make mistakes.

As for the use of Tonnes vs kg ... While they showed us the form of the equation , they did not show us actual math they did ... both are units of mass ... 1 Tonne = 1,000 kg ... the question is weather they accounted for the conversion properly in the math they did ... but we don't know the math they did ... the general form of the equation is just a unit of mass ... it could been in mg as long as the math is still done correctly.

That having been said ... I will agree they probably should have written it differently ... even if they did weigh the vehicle itself in metric tonnes... as it is ... it could mislead a novice into doing the actual math incorrectly.

As you say with the power in Watts the conventional unit of mass to use is the kg.

However ... sense I don't see their numbers being off by 1,000 ... which would be easily noticeable ... I suspect , despite the poor wording , that they did the actual math correctly.

The whole question is whether there's a factor of a thousand floating around in the last term on the right side. I suppose I could start plugging numbers and see if the aerodynamic drag is 20 Watts instead of 20 Kw at some moderate speed. By taking the total derivative and plugging some numbers it should be possible to make some intelligent estimates about what factors have what effect at various speeds.
