Default Volumetric Efficency?

I have the latest Beta software for TouchScan which uses the OBD-II interface to compute MPG. Without MAF information which the Insight does not provide it uses another method to compute MPG. In the computation, one of the fixed inputs is the Volumetric Effiency. It is presently set at 65% but I can change that as need be.

Anyone know a good value to use there for the 1 liter Insight engine??

Couldn't you figure out what it should be by calibrating against the Insight's instantaneous mpg meter. That assumes that VOL EFF is a fixed value.

All I can tell you is, on my ScanGauge II, when I set the engine displacement at .8, the MPG display perfectly matches the Insight dash display. I don't know if that will help you...

BUT...isnt the diplacement 1.0? If so, then are you are compensating for an erroneous Volumetric Efficiency?

I will try 0.8 and see if it works. Right now it is reading HIGH

I am NOT using ScanGauge, I am using TouchScan on my mini PC.

The problem has been partially fixed by changing the software and removing a filter. I am still using 1 litre for the engine size and it now matches the FCD up to about 95mpg but it flattens out there and the TouchScan reads a bit low so I think I will try adjusting the VE.
