Default TPS circuit mod.

I just installed a throttle dampening module yesterday. It is supposed to enhance your ability to stay in lean-burn. It seems to work fairly well on long stretches of highway/county roads, but seems counter productive with more stop and go type driving. When shifting (particulary from 1-2 and 2-3) the rpms jump way up between shifts. Although a little easier to "stay" in lean-burn, I am having a much harder time "getting" into lean-burn. Also, I am loosing the ability to quickly get into regen braking as there is now a delay. Takeoff in first gear is also a bit different. Any tips from anyone with one of these installed? I think the advantages of this device may be negated by some disadvantages. I will try and work with it for a bit, but am thinking it may need to be uninstalled soon. Or, I may add a swith to disable unless I am on a long smooth stretch of road.

sounds like to me that the components used are not the right values.

I tried and then removed it as the symptoms you described affected me as well. The response became too laggy and I was a hardended light foot joe anyway.

I designed and installed my own and it works perfectly. Had it on for a year and am totally happy. I picked the components then adjusted them as needed to get a proper match between the resistor and the capacitor. Total cost less than a dollar and less than an hour to install and adjust and reinstall

are you using a resistor or a potentiometer? Use a 10k pot, play with the values simply by twisting the pot until the driveability is just right.

I also like the delayed staying in assist feature. You can press the pedal all the way down for like 1 second, then suddenly let go, and the assist will be at full for like 2 seconds, and the car will be still pulling with your foot off the gas.

I used a pot to find the desired resistance and then replaced it with a fixed resistor.

I use 5100 ohms and 100 ufd. I dont even know its there except that lean burn is easy to keep for long stretches.

Just put a switch on it, and only use it on the highway.
5K and 100uF work well for highway, as you want lots of damping.

It is just a nuisance in stop and go, and I doubt if you can find a setting that would work well for both.

How is it a nuisance in stop and go trafic? I don t even notice it and we have the same values.
