Default Ebay turbo kit

Honda Insight T3T4 Turbo Charger Kit:eBay Motors (item 350215644978 end time Oct-17-09 11:57:25 PDT)

They list this as a kit, though some custom work would need to be done at the exhaust header, so not exactly bolt on.

My question, is it worth it? On the surface it looks to be inexpensive at $983. They also hype the numbers claiming it can do 25 lbs of boost though our little car would probably use less than 8. Also, would the ECU have to be tuned to properly make use of 5 - 8 lbs of boost and still remain economical?

Opinions and input?

Stock Hondas can normally take 5 to 8 psi of intercooled boost. A T3/T4 turbo is ridiculously huge for our cars... There would be hideous turbo lag, especially with all the air in the intercooler and its plumbing.

You'd be pretty much on your own for getting enough extra fuel in... Willie of the turbo Red Rocket would have real info there, since he's been there, done that. I know with CRXes you get into expensive laptop-programmed Zdyne ECUs and some combo of higher-flow injectors and higher fuel pressures (to match the extra intake pressure). I don't know if the Insight ties fuel pressure to 35 or so psi above manifold pressure the way the MkI CRX Si does, or if it's constant, but in any case much of the time in turbocharging a car goes not into the hardware, but figuring out how to remap the fuel:air ratio over the wider manifold pressure range.

The kit might be great for getting enough air through my D16A1-powered Civic to potentially allow 200+ hp from it once the remapping etc. is done, but it seems way out of scale for the MkI Insight.
