Default The Right Switch?

Im putting in 3 switches on the car next week, One will cut the TPS mod (handy for urban driving), One will kick in the Clutch switch (IMA Disable) and one will kick in the brake switch (Forced Regen).

This is the siwtch for the first two;

12V Black round ON / OFF rocker toggle switch 10A NEW on eBay (end time 31-Oct-09 17:24:46 GMT)

This is the momentary switch for the brake one;

Round rocker switch momentary OFF (ON) 20 mm hole black on eBay (end time 17-Oct-09 19:05:44 BST)

Can you guys let me know if the rating of these are OK? Im not nearly as full bearded as I would like to be and dont know too much about electronics. My mechanical friend is going to wire and solder them in for me, but wanted to get the correct switches first.

Thanks!

I would get switches that require little attention while driving, those ones seem fine. Also mount them in a place that you can easily reach without taking your concentration off the road. I mounted my switches in the area between the shifter and the Handbrake, since you would normally rest your right hand there anyway while driving and you dont want to be looking at the switches while driving anyway.

Thats exactly where I wanted them, just on the black plastic between gear shifter and H'brake. Right at your hand when resting. Cant wait to get these done!

I like having mine on the front of the shift knob because I often want to do these things either right before or right after shifting. So I put them right where the last segment of my fingers rest while I am holding the knob. I splay my fingers apart slightly when I don't want to engage the switches. Sort of as shown here:

only I did not make a leather cover. Your clutch and regen switches perform two of the functions of MIMA (which I have), so the uses are similar. Maybe the TPS switch could go elsewhere as I suspect it would not be flipped as often???

If you do a forced charge using a brake switch bypass, I assume that if you hold it on too long the normal protective circuitry will still protect the battery from over heating and maybe even from overcharging too much???

Correct! The regen soon throttles back.
