Free Bass for your stereo

There was one old thread that talked about this topic, but I have seen so many who apparently haven't done this I think it's worth mentioning again.

When upgrading the factory door speakers, you will have terrible bass response unless you cut out the plastic splash panel behind the speaker. My before and after experience showed about a 75% improvement in bass after I cut out as much plastic behind the speaker as I could.

I used a soldering iron to melt the plastic and some patience, and didn't even have to remove the door panel. This is about a half hour job for both sides, and you will definitely be glad you did it!

I feel today's non-paper speakers probably don't need the weather protection that Honda put there, but live in California where it never rains. ; )

Anyway it's free and a tremendous improvement in sound quality!

the speakers might not need protection from rain... but if you search arround you will see that some had trouble with leaking water due to the missing plastic

i would say go for rear speakers instead.. some damm good ones

It would be interesting to see how much bass there is to be gained from the stock speakers by removing the plastic from behind them.
