the hawk 397 are for the Insight with the A/T, which is the same shape for numerous other older hondas.

maybe someone replaced your calipers with ones from an A/T? i really dont know how you got those on your M/T considered the tabs are on opposite sides of the pad.

Dunno, but the pads from my '88 HF dropped right in. And what does 'tabs on the opposite side' mean? I've got to change snow tires to summer tires this week and will check again. Do you mean theears or tabs are outboard instead of inboard on the pads relative to the curved side or the 'straight' side?
Did Honda offer an AT in 2000? Except for the locating ears they both look the same,

To save on weight, I want to swap a set of aluminum Insight calipers onto my 1991 CRX Hf. Are both the CVT and MT first generation front calipers made from aluminum?

I bought as set of re-manufactured CVT calipers from Advanced Auto, but when I opened the box they were cast iron. Not sure if this was a packaging error or if they are just selling a cast iron part that interchanges onto the Insight.
