Default Question from a newbie - Installing USB/Voiding Warranty

Just got my 2010 Honda Insight LX and loving every minute of it!

I'm looking to buy the USB iPod attachment from my dealer and install it myself to save on the labor. I've done installs like this before and based on the instructions I read online, it looks like something I can handle. Will doing it myself void my warranty?

Also, I want to install it so that the USB attachment comes out of that small closed cubbie under stereo instead of through the glove box like the instructions show. Is this possible? When you open that cubbie, I see that there is a piece that pops off. That's where I was planning on feeding the cable.

Thoughts?

Doing the install yourself does not void any warranty. Keep in mind though, that if you were to in some way damage anything else doing the install, the warranty on that system would, in fact, not be covered by Honda. Just makes sense.
