New head unit problems

So i installed my "new" head unit from my old car. Well the install is very simple. bought the wiring harness from best buy $23 which was worth it. so here's where my problem came in.
after a test run cd's played, radio worked great. well i put everything back together and tried it again. this time the radio wouldn't get any reception. cd's played fine just no radio at all. so i took everything back apart and tried the stock radio with worked fine. so i tried the new unit again and still no radio. anyone else have this happen to them and figure out why? any help would be appreciated.

did you plug the antenna back in?

good question, actually i unplugged it and plugged it in a few times. just to make sure nothing was in there and it was making a good contact. i think the antenna is powered. I might just just the 'new" one i have since it's probably 7years old and get a new one. probably just go with crutchfield since they give you the nice wiring harness. but if someone has the solution maybe i'll save the 250 bucks and keep the old one.

the antenna is not powered. only thing i can think of is that the new headunit antenna's connection is broken.
