I have been running an OBDII adapter on my car for over a year into a PC that displays a gauge set on a 7" display above the cup holder. Its a chinese copy that works fine.

I agree once we know the codes for the various functions the scangauge may be very easy to program with a couple of extra functions.

However i will be looking at a pic based solution eventually with better display able to do everything at once inc fans on/off etc poss inc IMAC&C as well.

This is very primitive but Eli and I are working on finding the xgauge for SOC.

The HDS labels it as a voltage or percent value. When selected as voltage, it reads 3.78V for 82% SOC. That converts as this: (125*(volts - 0.5)) / 5

So assuming all the voltage values that the HDS spits out calculate to the nearest .5% evenly, we can be safe to say the single byte hex value is double the SOC. That means 82% SOC should be 0xA4 and 81.5% should be 0xA3.

Basically Eli has his SG2 setup to send the PIDs and he's incrementing em one by one, checking the responses to compare with the BCM gauge SOC. It's gonna take a long time, and I hope it's available under the normal K line communications, simply because it's available from the ECM screen in the HDS.

I think logging the HDS actively is the easiest way to get the info we need.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to find anything. We must be missing something, as after PID 1C, none of the higher PIDs would respond with an answer. I tried up to about 60..

The investigation continues...

Jim,
Can you elaborate on this a little. I was considering dashcommand but was a little uncertain what it would display. I have a touch screen radio/DVD thing by MEOS which I was hopeing to adapt or perhaps replace with a PC system.
