I was told by the dealer today that my beloved 2002 insight needs a new transmisson and not an enjine. $5900.00. Any suggestions here as to other allternatives. Is the tranny hard to replace? Thnaks again
It is a 2002 CVT..... I have decided to bring it home and attempt to fix it myself. Does anyone know any good manuals or websites that I can get or look at to help me change out the tranny and the radiator and condenser. Listen folks, I REALLY APPRECIATE ALL YOUR INPUT ON THIS. I am just a poor boy trying to survive. Thanks ya all, Bill in Texas.....
When you click on the link, there will be an option to download for free (FileFactory Basic). Or try the links provided by retepsnikrep on page 4 of that thread.

Getting the tranny in/out is not difficult at all, the question for you is what is wrong with it - can it be repaired or just replaced? The dealer is not your friend at this point. Get a Factory service manual if you are so inclined and have the tools/place to work on it. You will likely find that buying a used tranny will be the way to go here
I am having trouble downloading those manuals. Can someone send them to me in whatever format you might have them in? Thanks Steve for the input. I have a clean place to work on the Insight and hope I can do it. I may need to ask for ALOT of help so I hope ya all wont get to tired of me doing so. Thanks again everyone.
