Using Honda Insight spares with RE92s

Hi,

I was wondering whether it would be possible to use spare wheels from Honda Insight with RE92 165 profile. Insight spare wheel is 4" wide and I think 165 tire should mount without any problems.

I think that wheel has a different shape where the tire bead is so any normal tire may not mount properly and it would probably then be unsafe to drive. But I also would have to ask.....Why would you want to do this?

The standard OEM wheels are very lightweight and designed with aerodynamics in mind so I'm not sure what you would gain if the tires could be mounted properly.

I’m thinking about putting them on a civic VX, I don’t have stock Insight wheels, so I figured these would be cheaper to buy and are lighter that stock insight wheels. Where are you getting your information about tire mounting surface being different than normal wheel? My only concern at this point is bowing of the tire due to narrow wheel.

I don't have a reference link to give you but I thought I read it somewhere. I did say that "I think" as I am not sure but it is something that you could look into before you begin.

I don't think that the Insight space saver wheel weight is much less compared to the OEM wheel....

I appreciate your information and was only asking for the source not to check your credibility, but to read up and get a better understanding. I'm looking into it.
