Exclamation HELP!!!******--------> The dreaded IMA light-need help diagnosing<------------******

Hi all, my IMA light has just come on and I could use a little help diagnosing it.

The car runs fine and my milaege seems normal.? I did just put in a switch to activate my brake lights so as to activate the lights, so I can regen while coasting etc.

I have a 112k miles and salvaged title on my CVT. I was told by Honda America at one point that my batteries would be covered due to smog despite the salvaged title? This was before I had any problems though.

I have the full shop manual and have yet to pull codes. I was hoping to get some pre-diagnosis advice etc...

Please chime in with your thoughts etc.

Thanks so much,
Mark

I am not the expert here, but some thoughts.

First, without pulling the codes, it is a wild guess. Codes 1447 and 1449 are the most frequent, and usually indicated a battery pack that needs replacement. Do a search on those codes for info, but you really need to pull the codes. Check the FAQ's also, I think there is one with a list of codes.

As to salvage title, my understanding is that voids the extended battery warranty. The 10 year/157,500k mile extended warranty was to settle class action suits over battery life and odometer discrepancies.

If you have a bad battery pack, and it is not covered, Ron at Hybrid Battery Repair can provide refurbished batteries at a very good price (compared to you footing the bill for a "new" battery pack).

Regards,
Jerry
